Visiting The Tombs Of The Martyrs In The Battle Of Uhud

At visiting the martyrs of the Battle of Uhud, say the following words:

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ رَسُول ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `ala rasuli allahi

Peace be upon Allah’s Messenger.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ نَبِيِّ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `ala nabiyyi allahi

Peace be upon Allah’s Prophet.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ بنِ عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `ala muhammadi bni `abdi allahi

Peace be upon Muhammad the son of `Abdullah.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَىٰ اهْلِ بَيْتِهِ ٱلطَّاهِرِينَ

alssalamu `ala ahli baytihi alttahirina

peace be upon his Immaculate Household.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ ايُّهَا ٱلشُّهَدَاءُ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ

alssalamu `alaykum ayyuha alshshuhada'u almu'minuna

Peace be upon you, O martyrs, believing ones.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا اهْلَ بَيْتِ ٱلإِيـمَانِ وَٱلتَّوْحِيدِ

alssalamu `alaykum ya ahla bayti al'imani walttawhidi

Peace be upon you, O household of (true) faith and monotheism.

اَلسَّلاَمُ عَلَيْكُمْ يَا انْصَارَ دِينِ ٱللَّهِ

alssalamu `alaykum ya ansara dini allahi

Peace be upon you, O supporters of Allah’s religion

وَانْصَارَ رَسُولِهِ عَلَيْهِ وَآلِهِ ٱلسَّلاَمُ

wa ansara rasulihi `alayhi wa alihi alssalamu

and supporters of His Messenger—peace be upon him and his Household.

سَلاَمٌ عَلَيْكُمْ بِمَا صَبَرْتُمْ

salamun `alaykum bima sabartum

Peace be upon you because you were constant!

فَنِعْمَ عُقْبَىٰ ٱلدَّارِ

fani`ma `uqba alddari

How excellent is then the issue of the abode.

اشْهَدُ انَّ ٱللَّهَ ٱخْتَارَكُمْ لِدِينِهِ

ashhadu anna allaha ikhtarakum lidinihi

I bear witness that Allah has chosen you for His religion

وَٱصْطَفَاكُمْ لِرَسُولِهِ

wastafakum lirasulihi

and selected you for His Messenger.

وَاشْهَدُ انَّكُمْ قَدْ جَاهَدْتُمْ فِي ٱللَّهِ حَقَّ جِهَادِهِ

wa ashhadu annakum qad jahadtum fi allahi haqqa jihadihi

And I bear witness that you did strive for the sake of Allah as exactly as required

وَذَبَبْتُمْ عَنْ دِينِ ٱللَّهِ وَعَنْ نَبِيِّهِ

wa dhababtum `an dini allahi wa `an nabiyyihi

defended Allah’s religion and Prophet,

وَجُدْتُمْ بِانْفُسِكُمْ دُونَهُ

wa judtum bi'anfusikum dunahu

and sacrificed your souls for Him.

وَاشْهَدُ انَّكُم قُتِلْتُمْ عَلَىٰ مِنْهَاجِ رَسُولِ ٱللَّهِ

wa ashhadu annakum qutiltum `ala minhaji rasuli allahi

And I bear witness that you were killed following the course of Allah’s Messenger;

فَجَزَاكُمُ ٱللَّهُ عَنْ نَبِيِّهِ

fajazakum allahu `an nabiyyihi

therefore, may Allah reward you, on behalf of His Prophet

وَعَنِ ٱلإِسْلاَمِ وَاهْلِهِ افْضَلَ ٱلْجَزَاءِ

wa `an al-islami wa ahlihi afdala aljaza'i

and Islam and the followers of Islam, with the best reward;

وَعَرَّفَنَا وُجُوهَكُمْ فِي مَحَلِّ رِضْوَانِهِ

wa `arrafana wujuhakum fi mahalli ridwanihi

and may He make us recognize you by faces at the Place of His Pleasure

وَمَوْضِعِ إِكْرَامِهِ

wa mawdi`i ikramihi

and the Abode of His Honoring

مَعَ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ وَٱلصِّدِّيقِينَ

ma`a alnnabiyyina walssiddiqina

with the Prophets, the veracious ones,

وَٱلشُّهَدَاءِ وَٱلصَّالِحِينَ

walshshuhada'i walssalihina

the martyrs, and the righteous ones;

وَحَسُنَ اولٰئِكَ رَفِيقاً

wa hasuna ula'ika rafiqan

and how excellent is the company of those.

اشْهَدُ انَّكُمْ حِزْبُ ٱللَّهِ

ashhadu annakum hizbu allahi

I bear witness that you are the party of Allah

وَانَّ مَنْ حَارَبَكُمْ فَقَدْ حَارَبَ ٱللَّهَ

wa anna man harabakum faqad haraba allaha

and that he who fought you had in fact fought against Allah,

وَانَّكُمْ لَمِنَ ٱلْمُقَرَّبِينَ ٱلْفَائِزِينَ

wa annakum lamin almuqarrabina alfa'izina

and that you are of those who are the nearest (to Almighty Allah) and of those who are triumphant,

ٱلَّذِينَ هُمْ احْيَاءٌ عِنْدَ رَبِّهِمْ يُرْزَقُونَ

alladhina hum ahya'un `inda rabbihim yurzaquna

who are alive and are provided sustenance from their Lord.

فَعَلَىٰ مَنْ قَتَلَكُمْ لَعْنَةُ ٱللَّهِ

fa`ala man qatalakum la`natu allahi

The curse of Allah be upon those who killed you.

وَٱلْمَلاَئِكَةِ وَٱلنَّاسِ اجْمَعِينَ

walmala'ikati walnnasi ajma`ina

So be the curse of the angels and all peoples.

اتَيْتُكُمْ يَا اهْلَ ٱلتَّوْحِيدِ زَائِراً

ataytukum ya ahla alttawhidi za'iran

O people of Allah’s Oneness, I have come to you, visiting you,

وَبِحَقِّكُمْ عَارِفاً

wa bihaqqikum `arifan

acknowledging your rights,

وِبِزِيَارَتِكُمْ إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ مُتَقَرِّباً

wa biziyaratikum ila allahi mutaqarriban

seeking nearness to Allah through my visit to you,

وَبِمَا سَبَقَ مِنْ شَرِيفِ ٱلاعْمَالِ

wa bima sabaqa min sharifi al-a`mali

and recognizing your honorable deeds

وَمَرْضِيِّ ٱلافْعَالِ عَالِماً

wa mardiyyi al-af`ali `aliman

and pleasant acts.

فَعَلَيْكُمْ سَلاَمُ ٱللَّهِ وَرَحْمَتُهُ وَبَرَكَاتُهُ

fa`alaykum salamu allahi wa rahmatuhu wa barakatuhu

Peace, mercy, and blessings of Allah be upon you.

وَعَلىٰ مَنْ قَتَلَكُمْ لَعْنَةُ ٱللَّهِ وَغَضَبُهُ وَسَخَطُهُ

wa `ala man qatalakum la`natu allahi wa ghadabuhu wa sakhatuhu

Curse, ire, and wrath of Allah be upon those who killed you.

اَللَّهُمَّ ٱنْفَعْنِي بِزِيَارَتِهِمْ

allahumma infa`ni biziyaratihim

O Allah, (please do) grant me advantages for I am visiting them,

وَثَبِّتْنِي عَلَىٰ قَصْدِهِمْ

wa thabbitni `ala qasdihim

make me stand steadfastly their course,

وَتَوَفَّنِي عَلَىٰ مَا تَوَفَّيْتَهُمْ عَلَيْهِ

wa tawaffani `ala ma tawaffaytahum `alayhi

do not grasp my soul before I be carrying the same principles that they carried when You grasped their souls,

وَٱجْمَعْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُم

wajma` bayni wa baynahum

and include me with their group

فِي مُسْتَقَرِّ دَارِ رَحْمَتِكَ

fi mustaqarri dari rahmatika

in the unchangeable abode of Your mercy.

اشْهَدُ انَّكُمْ لَنَا فَرَطٌ

ashhadu annakum lana faratun

I bear witness that you preceded us

وَنَحْنُ بِكُمْ لاَحِقُونَ

wa nahnu bikum lahiquna

and we shall certainly follow you.
